Atheists would you ever invite a Christian to your BBQ or Party?
When I set up my fantasy football league this year, one of the first people I invited was Primo, who is both an R%26amp;S regular and a self-described fundie.





I didn't invite him because of his faith, I invited him because he's a good guy.





That won't prevent me from laying the smack down on him when I play him this season, though. Not even God can prevent that.

They are my friends and family, I love them even if I do not agree with their choice in belief..

Reply:This question is frequently asked in one form or another. You might get a few blowhards who would say no, but the overwhelming of majority of atheists have christian friends, family members and/or loved ones with whom they get along just fine.


Most of society here in the US is christian, it would take a very dogmatic, zealous atheist not to make friends with some of them.





On the other hand, Christian prejudice against atheists runs high. Part of this might come from the fact that because of all the stigma against atheism, a lot of atheists don't publicly announce their beliefs. As a result, many Christians don't realize that they know atheists and that they are fine people. In polls the majority says they wouldn't vote for an atheist, even if the atheist held their political views. Far more Christians would rather that their child marry anyone other than an atheist according to another poll. So if you are looking for discrimination, it's far more likely to be anti-atheist than it is to be by atheists against others.

I have many friends of many religions and lack thereof. We are completely capable of respecting each other and getting along, even though we aren't clones. Diversity is something that makes life worth living. My friends aren't required to agree with everything I think. That would be a good way to end up a hermit.

I would invite a Christian to my BBQ. I would invite an Atheist to my BBQ. I would invite a Jew and a Muslim to my BBQ.





Everyone, no matter their religion, can be friendly and enjoyable. Plus, I'm a Southern Mama. I feed everyone. That's what we do!
Reply:Of course. I base my friendships on the person, not their religious beliefs.
Reply:Sure. I invite them over all of the time. We get along great. I would invite anyone over from any religion.

Reply:sure, just because i don't agree with their religous preferences doesn't mean i can't hang out with them. unless they're preachy.
