If not invited to an IRC channel, is it impolite to join?

I saw an acquaintance ask another acquaintance to join a third acquaintance's channel. Would it be impolite if I just showed up?

Not necessarily. If it's an open room, and not invite only (+i), then why not? If the operators kick you out, then apparently they don't want uninvited users. But as the owner of many channels, I would love it if more legitimate members joined to engage in open conversion.





That's just my opinion though. You should do what you think would be best.
