I was invited to a wedding this December and the attire says "festive formal". What exactly is it?

I tried researching on it a bit on the internet but theres nothing exact. "Festive" said nothing formal so now I'm confused. I live in a tropical country btw so weather here doesnt get too cold and the lowest it will get will be 20C.

Would a plain yellow maxi dress be ok? Or is that too informal?

dress casual, nice clothes not jeans or a suit

Reply:In my non-expert opinion,

I would guess that to mean non-formal in the way that it is not a "black tie affair" but dressy enough to dress nice. I would dress as if attending a company Christmas party. I wouldn't go for a yellow maxi-dress, however I would think it appropriate if the dress were of a darker, more formal color ;)
Reply:I agree with Vampire, you should wear something that's holiday-themed. Red, gold, silver, or dark green.
Reply:I think the 'Festive' part, means something Christmasy maybe? Like red? I really don't know!
