If someone invites me to join a group on Facebook, do I have to join it just to be polite?

What if it's a group that I'm not interested in joining, or something that I don't want on my profile?

just ignore them, the person who invrite you probably invrite more than one person to that group so i don't think they will know.
Reply:If you are not interested in the group, then you should simply decline the offer. If the person asks about your disinterest, then explain how you feel. The reason question that you should be asking yourself is, "Should I feel guilty for being honest?........Never".
Reply:Nope. Just click ignore on them all. I can't download all that much on my home computer so I have ignore most application requests. No ones ever said anything and most people only click accept on the things they like anyway. Don't feel bad about it!!!
Reply:No. I think that some of the 'groups' on facebook do some thing where they automatically invite everyone on a members friend list.
Reply:I just ignore the request.

I have a few groups I want to leave, but then everybody knows when I leave the group and don't want to hurt feelings.

the groups are really pointless anyway!
Reply:No. You could just say no, thanks. And then tell the person who sent it to you that you just aren't interested , but thanks anyway.
Reply:No. You don't have to join or become someone's contact or friend. If you don't want to join, just don't join.
Reply:Only if you're interested.
Reply:Of course not. Just ignore the message or politely decline. I'm only in groups that really interest me (mostly groups from school or places where I've worked).
Reply:not when the site can be used for social net working if ya not want don't do x
Reply:no you dont have to join
Reply:I know what you mean, just ignore the request.
Reply:nope I dont join anyones group i dont know
