As for you not being able to receive invitations from others to join their groups it's possible that the setting for your Yahoo Groups account may have been set up so as not to accept invitations. The way to fix that is to go to "Manage" at the top of the Yahoo Groups' homepage where all your groups are listed and then it takes you to a page where it says, "Edit My Groups", "View My Groups" and then across the page there is something called "My Mail Preferences".
Click on the Mail preferences and it will show you how your e-mail is set up for being on Yahoo Groups when it comes to invitations.
If you are still having problems with that then I would recommend getting in touch with a Yahoo Groups' customer service representative to see if they can help you with that and also about the set up of your group when it comes to sending out invitations.
