If you saw homeless people around your neighborhood would you invite them in for christmas dinner?

No.

I do lots of work with the homeless. But it's never smart to invite a complete stranger into your home. Find others way to help if you want to help, but don't invite a stranger into your home. Be smart.
If you saw homeless people around your neighborhood would you invite them in for christmas dinner?
Absolutely! We are supposed to love our neighbor as ourself!
Reply:Yeah, so they could scout out my house and find out where all the good stuff if!
Reply:This is a small town so I would probably already know them. As long as they weren't drunk or offensive then yes I would.
Reply:my brothers know they are always welcome at my house...
Reply:Of course I would. Actually we do have some homeless people around here. They know they can eat at my house anytime they want to!

Contrary to what many people believe, not homeless people are alcoholics or lazy.
Reply:As scary as the world is today I probably would not invite them into my home seeing as how I have two small children. But I would take them a hot plate of dinner and a warm blanket. Maybe give them enough money to get a hotel room.
Reply:i'd probably just give them some money or take them somewhere to get something to eat
Reply:I'd tell them to get the f**k on after I give them some food or money. Sorry, that's the stereotypical Republican in me talking.
Reply:Nah, I don't eat homeless people....too stringy and tough.
Reply:I am very likely to have dinner with them at the homeless shelter

myself, their place and not mine. OK by me.
Reply:it depends on what kind of homeless person, if they smell like booze then no but if you cant tell they are homeless then sure
Reply:no.I might give them some money though
Reply:No. I'm with the people who think it's not smart to invite strangers into your home. I find other ways to help. I crochet squares for Michael's craft store's Warm Up America program. The donated squares are joined by volunteers into blankets that are donated to the homeless. That's an easy thing to do, it takes very little time or talent to make a square, and it's a good way to use up leftover yarn. It's also an easy on-the-go project to fill waiting time.

When I see homeless people panhandling, I have been known on occasion to go through a nearby fast food drive-thru and get them a meal. I rarely give money, you don't know what they'll use it for, but you know what they'll do with the food!

When my husband died, I put all his (clean and in good condition) socks, underwear, thermals, etc. in bags and took them to a local community center that works with the homeless. They were thrilled, and the people there jumped on that stuff like Pirahnas at feeding time! Much better than just giving it to Goodwill or something. I gave it where the need actually was. Think of that when you're cleaning out your drawers to make room for your new clothes!

My fiance told me about one time a homeless woman attempted to solicit him for money in a park. Grossed him out, but what he did was took her to a cheap motel across the street, got a room, gave her some money, and left. He told her to get a bath and a good night's sleep.

He also gave a young single mother he knows a few bags of groceries last Christmas time.

We regularly donate to the local homeless shelter, and not always money. If I buy a bottle of shampoo or article of clothing, or whatever, and don't like it for some reason, they're always thrilled to take it off my hands! If I buy socks, I buy an extra package for them. I keep a small box in the pantry for donations and take it down there once or twice a month. Anything I come across around the house we aren't going to use goes in the box.

You can do all sorts of little things. We aren't rich, but even if you have little, remember you have more than some people. You'll never miss the small amount of money you might spend, but it will make a world of difference to someone who has nothing!

But never, ever invite strangers into your home. That's just not smart in today's world!
