A message appears on my Yahoo Msgr inviting to open a message - it is virus I did not send. How to delete?

The above is a pop-up that appears as having been sent by me on the chat page, on every contact that is on my address book. I have tried several tactics to destroy it, with no success. The same invitation to open the tainted site is also on my contacts list opposite a smiling face. It even pops into all my contacts' chat message box, no matter the number of contacts made. I need some expert help.

This might not be the solution that you want to hear, but I would simply reformat. Whenever you have a virus that is pervasive enough to directly influence your machine, the best remedy is to completely wipe the hard drive and start fresh. It is a hassle to get things back up and running the way that you had them, but that is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I suppose you could try running AVG, Spybot S%26amp;D and AdAware, but those aren't guaranteed to fix it.

Like I said, I would start fresh and reformat.
