I want to go to japan for a concert, someone told me you can only go if you are invited to japan is this true?

I want to go to a concert in japan around december but my dad said you can only go to japan if someone invites you. You can't go to japan just because you want to, is this true? You have to be invited to japan or be in a business trip is this true?

No your dad is mistaken.

"A visa is NOT required for UK or Irish passport holders who wish to enter Japan for a period of six months or less for the following purposes:

Sightseeing, recreation, amateur sports, visiting relatives, inspection tour, participation in unpaid lectures or meetings, study, attending a conference, business contact or other similar activities. Journalists travelling to Japan for a short business trip do not require visas."

Enjoy your concert. ;-)
Reply:I think you dad doesn't want you to go.
Reply:Non-sense. All you need is $1,200 for a tourist class plane ticket. Plus another couple hundred for a hotel. More money for getting to from the airport, where-ever. You're talking at least $2,000. Just to go to a concert?
Reply:that cannot be true.... maybe u misunderstood or your dad doesnt want u to go...

best of luck
Reply:Well, not really. I think what your dad meant was if you wanted to go to the back stage. I'm not really sure. But I still don't think that you need to be invited to go to a concert in Japan.
Reply:what a load of cobblers WHAT ABOUT TOURIST'S
Reply:Your dad lied.
Reply:It depends on your country.

But today, even Chinese ppl come to Japan in tour group. No invitation in there.

Check and ask at travel agency.
Reply:Depends on your nationality.

You sound american, so not a problem.

check the mofa (ministry of foreign affairs) website to check your eligibility for a visa waiver.

Reply:Nope.,....your dad is pulling your leg..

There are no travel restrictions to japan.

If it were true, japan would never have become the #2 economic superpower (economy only that is).
