Just buy him something that fits in with his hobbies and interests.

Reply:Hi,

I'm an Australian and the gift giving culture here is pretty universal - the same as everywhere else. Just give him something that he's wanted for a while, or something that fits in with his personality, hobbies and interests.

Depending on how old you are, and how close you are with the person, the average amount you spend on friends differs. Anything between $15- 50 is pretty good, and the thing they want/like most could be literally priceless.

Anything overly expensive looks a bit tryhardish unless you're going halves with someone or it's a special occasion.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I am an aussie too, and i would first like to repeat what the other people have said and say we dont really have a gift culture. Although! there are a few "guidelines" that apply to gift giving. Like a gifts shouldnt be overly expensive, and somtimes it is the cheaper gifts that are best. Some australians like to give humorus gifts like a personalised stubbie holder for a beer lover. or a "kiss the cook" apron for someone that loves cooking, but dont go overboard. using a friends birthady as a chance to make a comment about their low intellengence is not cool.

The main thing however is thought, nothing makes a better gift for an aussie friend then somthing that you have though about and that they can put on the mantle piece, and be reminded of your "ugly mug" everytime they see it.lol

good luck n_n

Reply:Depends what age, and how close he is to you. I'm a Kiwi (NZer) and I usually give my friends from school something priced up to NZ$15 and my closest friends something NZ$20 to $25 (I don't know how much that translates to in aussie dollars).

Just give him something that you would want to get yourself.
Reply:australians don't have a gift culture, gifts are easy if this person is a child buy him a toy car or leggo, but if you are adults buy him somthing that he likes what is his favourite band?? you could buy him a cd, if you are completely stuck GET HIM A GIFT CARD!!!!!!!!! hope this helps
Reply:Yeah!
